πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Dr Jill Miller – Paul Harris Fellow Recognition

Gerringong Sunrise Rotary is delighted to recognise Dr Jill Miller with a Paul Harris Fellow for her outstanding contribution to preserving and sharing the history of Gerringong and its community.

As a dedicated member of the Gerringong and District Historical Society, Jill has spent many years researching our local history with great care and attention to detail. Her work has helped ensure the stories of our people, buildings and events are accurately recorded and preserved for future generations.

Jill has also given countless hours as a Trove volunteer, carefully correcting digitised historical newspaper records, particularly those relating to the Gerringong district. Her patience and knowledge have made these valuable records more accurate and accessible to researchers and the wider community.

For many years, Jill shared local history through Village Whispers, contributing a remarkable 98 articles. Each story was meticulously researched, separating fact from memories passed down through generations while preserving the voices and experiences of local people.

More recently, Jill played an important role in the Gerringong and District Historical Society’s Celebrating 100 Years Werri Beach project. As editor of the book, she also researched and wrote about the early European history of Werri Beach, including Robert and Elizabeth Miller and their descendants and the development of the Werri Beach estate.

Beyond her contribution to local history, Jill was also instrumental in helping establish sexual assault crisis centres in South Australia, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to supporting communities and making a difference in the lives of others.
