Boat Harbour Combined Working Bee
Friday 12 June
Community spirit was on full display at Boat Harbour recently as members of Berry Rotary and Gerringong Sunrise Rotary came together for a combined working bee focused on preserving an important piece of local maritime history.
The Boat Harbour anchor, a well-known landmark and point of interest for locals and visitors alike, has weathered many years of exposure to the coastal elements. To ensure this historic feature remains in good condition for future generations, members of Berry Rotary undertook restoration and maintenance work on the anchor and surrounding area.
The project involved cleaning, preparation and restoration work designed to protect the anchor from further deterioration while maintaining its significance as a reminder of the area’s rich maritime heritage.
While the restoration team worked hard throughout the day, members of Gerringong Sunrise Rotary took on the important role of keeping the volunteers fuelled and refreshed. A barbecue lunch and refreshments were provided, giving everyone the opportunity to take a well-earned break, share stories and enjoy the camaraderie that Rotary projects are known for.
The combined effort highlighted the strength of collaboration between Rotary clubs and demonstrated what can be achieved when volunteers come together for the benefit of the community. Projects such as these not only help preserve local landmarks but also strengthen connections between Rotary members and the wider community.
Gerringong Sunrise Rotary would like to thank Berry Rotary for their dedication to the restoration project and all volunteers who contributed their time and effort throughout the day.
Together, we continue to make a positive difference by preserving local history, supporting community initiatives and fostering the spirit of service above self.
